History
In 2002, a group of successful men from Columbus/ Fort Benning, Georgia and Phenix City, Alabama formed the Columbus Old School Tailgaters Organization with the goal of fellowship, sharing war stories and getting involved in community service. During the period from 2005-2011 The Old School Tailgaters conducted many tailgate parties with a strong desire to rise to a higher level of community involvement since most of its members were already individually supporting several community service projects.

Each and every member of the Columbus Old School Tailgaters has a strong sense of “GOD”, love of country and a burning desire for the organization to become more community oriented. Therefore, the members decided to form a non-profit organization in 2011 with the “mission” of providing educational scholarships to high school and college students in the Tri-City area. The Old School Tailgaters understood the importance of education and the many doors of opportunities that open after receiving a college degree. The organization awarded six $1000.00 scholarships to students with money obtained from the proceeds of selling two-dollar raffle tickets.

The organization changed its name in 2015 to the Columbus Old School Educational Foundation, Inc. (COSEFINC) and became a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization. Our current mission is to promote post-secondary educational opportunities for high school and college students in the Tri-City area. The Columbus Old School Educational foundation offers scholarships to assist with tuition to attend a college or university. Scholarships are available for graduating high school students and currently-enrolled college students from the Tri-City area which includes Columbus, Fort Benning, and Phenix City. To date, the Foundation has provided over $16,000 in scholarships to areas students. The Columbus Old School Educational Foundation believes education can change lives and launch successful careers.
